Artblock Sucks Beeg Dick

Posted by CowFz - October 3rd, 2021

Artblock sucks and I really wish it didn't exist for anyone as it sorta drains a person.

Feels like everything I've drawn recently especially for the past few weeks looks like shit, need time to recharge my motivation and actually plan things out instead of just half assing something for the sake of finishing them and saying whatever, it shows in a lot of this years work most of them feel lackluster, bland and empty, and I'm not proud of it.

yeah idk but a lot of your recent pictures are actually some of my favorites

I see a change of style this year, but it definitely doesn't look lackluster

Feels like I'm not learning anything new and I'm stuck at a state now, I probably shouldn't say this entire year just for the past few months I haven't been feeling it I guess.

I do not agree with what you're putting down here. Your work has been amazing and there's always improvements and clear changes in style. I cannot personally name any bad art that you've ever published, all of it is extremely good.

Maybe I'm no artist and I don't really see it the same way you do, but I wholeheartedly love and appreciate all the work you share and all the art you create and I am eager to see more.

Most of them feel like as if they are missing 2 or 3 things that would make them better probably cause most of the time there's no flow to them and are just the first few sketches just cleaned up a bit and just appear really stiff cause of it.

Well, an artist should take pride in their craft! You need to have a vision of what you're drawing or doing, so maybe that's why you feel the drawings might be lacking something. Perhaps for good reason!

It is a struggle in the end, and I'm confident you can go through those blockades. After all, there is no real constraint or real pressure set upon you, only the expectations you set for yourself.

To go beyond the philosophicals, maybe you need a break? Or some time to figure things out instead of bumming yourself about it? I'm only giving bandaid solutions here but I trust you'll figure it out. <3

I'm not even sure what I want anymore I probably should look up videos and things that would inspire me more. but thanks for having faith in me man :)

Maybe try something different in the art style or the like, or take a little brake from art, there are many ways to fix this and one big stop is literally yourself putting a lock. And seeing all dark isn't the greatest of way to give your own work critics

Sometimes trying new things kinda causes me to think they look wrong as I'm probably too used to a certain way of doing things now, need to find a way for my brain to process a solution for these kind of problems, been trying to add a few new things here and there in my pieces but I don't think I should jump the gap too much, and unfortunately it's kind of hard for me to enjoy my own art as I know it can be better I just don't know how until like weeks later when I come back to it.

Well maybe you are looking to reach for a goal to make something perfect, it may not help you but blind you in a certain way.

Your probably right on that, just seems like things are so out of reach sometimes, shouldn't really think that way but I sometimes default to that mindset.

Everyone want to be at their best and there is nothing wrong, but it shouldn't be on a level where it ruins what they enjoy doing.

True at the end of the day probably just need a self reminder for these things.

Look at your backgrounds they can tell a story instead of just filling in space, reading a little from the SCP wiki, I feel it could blend well with your art style, and most importantly you are an amazing artist that has been getting better by the day for a long time.

Yea sometimes I make the characters without thinking much on the backgrounds until later and that does make them feel like just filling up space with no real significance, gotta remind myself to think before hand of what of what the background would do, and thanks for the kind words :_)
